Honestly one of the best decisions I ever made. This is such an awesome experience for someone with minimal camping experience- the tent was comfortable and easy to find (i drive a prius and the dirt road was doable, just go slow). The outhouse and shower and convenient to use. The hammock is amazing for once the sun sets to just chill and stargaze. Could not recommend this place more!!

Absolutely loved my stay at Melanie’s place! I haven‘t slept this good in months! Location is great, 15 mins from the park and 5 mins from Study Butte/ Terlingua with Food, Cafes (and Restrooms😉) etc. The bed was really comfortable, and the stargazing „hammock“ outside was such a cool detail. The restrooms and shower on site were clean and functional. Melanie was a responsive and attentive host. I would recommend this place for everyone and ESPECIALLY for travelers from Europe like me that can’t bring their own tent with them on the plane and don’t want to spend a lot of money on buying one.

So nice to pull up a campsite set up with a beautiful view! Perfect location close to both Big Bend West entrance and Terlingua ghost town. Bed was comfortable, tent was a nice size and very durable. Remember to bring your own shade if it's hot out.

We had an excellent stay at Melanie’s place. The views we got from the front porch and surrounding area rivaled the views in Big Bend National Park. What an experience! Melanie’s place and hospitality both exceeded our expectations.

Stayed at campsite #9 at Mel’s and would return for any other of her spaces again! The space was plenty for our 3P tent, parking, and Mel’s provided hammock & picnic table. The outhouse and shower were convenient and clean. Stargazing and viewing sunrise/sets from the hammock she provided was so nice! Big Bend NP West entrance was a short drive as she disclosed. Overall, no issues during my stay at Mel’s.

I'm so glad we stayed a Mel's place!! It was absolutely amazing!! Mel had thought of everything a person might need!! The place was so perfect that I didn't want to leave!! From cooking on the grill, to eating on the porch, to laying and watching the sky on the star gazing platform!! It was all wonderful!! Each morning we got to sit on the porch with our coffee enjoying the amazing view and watching the cute little birds come to the feeder!! If you are looking for an awesome place to stay, this is the one!!

If you are looking for an off grid experience, this is a great place to pitch your tent! Very quiet, beautiful stars. Restroom & shower are very rustic and off grid but clean and very cute. We had a great time and would stay again.

Beautiful place to stay with stunning views. We loved the outdoor star viewing platform. I loved the outdoor shower and being off grid. Bed was comfy and kitchen was clean. Would love to stay here again.

This was a phenomenal spot for car camping and proximity to Big Bend. The view into the park was simply gorgeous at sunset, and the stars overhead were wonderful. Will definitely be back again.
