Melanie was great to work with. there was a pretty good dust storm the day we came in and she communicated early about it so we could prepare for not being able to use our camp stove or a fire for dinner. Her place is so close to Big Bend, it was just a hop skip and a jump to get there, making that early morning to watch the sun rise in Santa Elena Canyon that much easier. The sun rises and set over her own place however wete quite spectacular! loved the off grid shower. Was perfect temp the days we were there and a great way to end the night after the hot days hiking. We had a wonderful time and would stay here again if we make another trip out.

The outhouse is clean as is the solar shower! The campsites are easy to navigate. They are tidy with no trash at all. Each side features a picnic table, fire ring with cooking grate, and a nice double sized freestanding hammock for stargazing! The hammock is wonderful thanks to the beautiful views of the location of Mel’s campsites. You are surrounded by desert and hills. Sunsets and sunrises are beautiful. Stargazing is spectacular, again, the hammock was an awesome treat! It is incredibly quiet and peaceful to stay here. From the gas station in Terilinga, you’re only about 5 minutes driving slow into the desert to the campsites. Mel gives very good and clear instructions, which are not complicated anyway. Overall, the fantastic value, especially considering we stayed during spring break window. I will definitely use her campsites again!

Melanie was an extremely approachable, friendly, and amenable host. The property itself is in an absolutely stunning area, and we really appreciated that we could enjoy a campfire on this property (unlike the campsites in big bend itself). The shower and outhouse were very well maintained, and there were close by stores and gas stations which was nice to have. The sites themselves are pretty spaced out which was nice. Most of the trails we ended up doing ended up being ~ 40 min drive from the site, but in my opinion it was completely worth it to be in an accessible town, have on site showers, and campfires. I would recommend bringing your own firewood though, it is understandably expensive at all the surrounding stores. Overall, Melanie provided a great stay and was pleasantly communicative, I would confidently and happily recommend this to anyone!

This is my favorite camp to stay at anytime I’m in big bend! It’s secluded away, and super close to the park entrance. I’d recommend this place for everyone!

Enjoyed staying at the campsite. Conveniently located in Terlingua near the western entrance of Big Bend. FYSA the road leading to the campsite crosses a couple of dry river beds and may be difficult to cross with a large trailer.

This was a quiet place, but also near town. After the first couple of days, we pretty much had the place to ourselves! Views were fantastic and we enjoyed hearing coyotes howling near us one night.
