House Rules

* 2 guests max. Adults only, 18 and over. * NO PETS *LEAVE NO TRACE! Thank you for respecting the land. *TREAD LIGHTLY!! That means stay "on the road" with your vehicle, don't make new trails, or run over vegetation. All land is privately owned here outside the parks and this may be different than where you live. Tresspassing is taken very seriously here and there can be legal consequences. Driving off the road is not only destructive to the fragile desert environment, but also a very good way to get a flat tire, which will inconvenience your vacation finding someone to fix it. *To protect the desert, ABSOLUTELY NO COLLECTING OF FIREWOOD or kindling ON THE PROPERTY. You can buy firewood at the Cottonwood Grocery store here, or bring it with you. It's likely more expensive here as we have no local source for it in the desert. *NO FIREWORKS, or GUN FIRE *We are an international dark sky community, which is why Big Bend is so great for stargazing!! Keep lights dim and to a minimum, please. Red lights are preferable as they don't attract bugs and don't affect stargazing.

Mel’s place is a great place if you’re planning to camp for Big bend NP. Its a private place outside the park with surreal views. The instructions to find the place were precise which helped us reach there even during the dark hours.

Great place just outside of town but yet in the middle of nowhere. Great views of The Window and Santa Elena Canyon right from camp. So nice to not have to pack a tent and pad when flying. Large entry mat was a nice touch to prevent tracking sand inside. Easy access to public bathrooms and showers right on the way back to camp.
