NO pets. *Canvas tent: 6'Wx8'.5"Dx4'H, includes: a very comfortable TWIN bed,2 pillows, 2 blankets, table & lantern. *BRING SLEEPING BAG if it will be cold. *FULL size outdoor stargazer lounge net bed for sleeping/ stargazing provided *1 chair *Picnic table, cooking stove (bring your own 1 lb cylinders), firepit. *only a mile or so to, gas, groceries, etc. *SHOWER & clean outhouse No power/water on site

Bon à savoir

The pin on the map is close to the campground. You will use the directions in your reservation sent after you book to get to the exact location. The road is not in navigation apps and GPS is not accurate. The Cottonwood store has a good selection of groceries, camping supplies and water fill station just a couple miles south on 118 towards the park. There's 15 acres to explore, but do not take any plants or rocks! The back property line is behind the cabin and my pole barn to the west. Do not go on the neighbors property. Please see the map in the photos so you know where the boundaries are. I'd hate for you to get a visit from the sheriff. Cottonwood grocery store here sells firewood, but bring it if you can as it will cost less. Important!! *If you're bringing a tent for extra guests, secure tents with good stakes, and gear from wind and weather. You can not rely on the forecast to predict the high winds or storms that can come up in the desert unexpectedly We expect campers to respect the property and leave it as they found it. Please practice Leave No Trace, Tread Lightly, and respect our dark skies as well by using minimal lighting at your camp, so all guests on the property have optimal stargazing. The desert is pristine, please do your part to keep it that way. We provide a special and beautiful place for campers to stay who appreciate the quiet, beauty of the desert and stars!! I appreciate you and thank you in advance for your respect and cooperation. *You must put out your campfire before leaving or going to bed. This is best done with a shovel or bucket full of dirt, but water works fine. No campfires in windy conditions over 10 mph. Use common sense. Sparks can fly a long way. Keep an eye on the local forecast and realize that rain to the north can cause the dry creeks on my property to flash flood and you may not be able to leave till it recedes, which is usually pretty quick, but no promises. This is the desert so it doesn't rain much or often. The rainy season is during the summer months when not many people are camping anyway, but rain CAN happen at unexpected times here. ALWAYS stay aware of the weather just in case.

No fireworks, hunting, or gun fire Please, clean up after yourself in the outhouse and at camp. Quiet hours 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. NO GENERATORS NO COLLECTING FIREWOOD or kindling ON THE PROPERTY. Firewood is for sale at the grocery store, or bring some with you. PLEASE, do not use your headlights to set up your camp as this disturbs other guests. Use a flashlight or headlamp, thank you. Be safe with your fire. PUT OUT YOUR CAMPFIRE WITH DIRT OR WATER, separate the logs, thank you! No excessively bright lighting, please. We are an official dark sky community. Many are camping here to view and photograph our amazing dark starry skies. *Be aware that campsite lights attract bugs and the critters that eat them, like snakes. The view of the Chisos mountains from camp is about the best around. Front and center is Emory Peak, the highest point in the national park at 7860 ft. To the left of that is Casa Grande and to the right is the South Rim and Lost Mine trail.

Ce fut un séjour magnifique. Notre espace était très privé, tout en étant sûr. Notre emplacement de camping était équipé de plus de choses que ce à quoi nous nous attendions (réchaud Coleman, lanterne, gel désinfectant, etc.). Melanie a été très réactive et nous a donné de bonnes recommandations. Nous aimerions beaucoup revenir ! It was such a beautiful stay. Our space felt very private, yet safe. Our campsite came with more things than we were expecting (Coleman stove, lantern, hand sanitizer, etc.). Melanie was super responsive and gave us good recommendations for things. We would love to come back!

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez Mel. Nous étions trois à séjourner au camp n°4. Belle vue sur les Chisos, proche du BBNP et salle de bain/douche efficace. Points positifs : Le matelas fourni était très confortable et l'endroit était propre, facile à trouver, proche de la route principale et avec des vues incroyables ! Points négatifs : On peut entendre la circulation de l'autoroute, les personnes qui écoutent de la musique chez elles et, parfois, on peut sentir l'odeur des toilettes sèches. Conseils : Le seul emplacement que je ne réserverais pas est celui près de la benne à ordures, car il sentait comme les toilettes sèches, et non pas l'emplacement près des toilettes sèches si vous ne voulez ni l'odeur ni le bruit. Tous ces inconvénients sont logiques, compte tenu de la description de la zone dans l'annonce. Aucun de ces points négatifs n'a été rédhibitoire et je félicite Mel pour ce bel endroit ! Je réserverais à nouveau ici à l'avenir ! Had a great time at Mels. It was myself and two others who stayed at camp #4. Beautiful view of the Chisos, close to BBNP and efficient bathroom/shower. Pros: The provided mattress was very comfortable and the area was clean, easy to locate, close to the main road and amazing views! Cons: Can hear the traffic from the highway, anyone playing music out of their residence and occasionally can smell the outhouse. Tips: The only campsite I wouldn’t book is the one near the dumpster since it smelled like the outhouse and not the campsite near the outhouse if you don’t want the smell or noise either. All the cons are a given since it’s common sense, given the description of the area in the listing. None of the cons were a deal breaker and I commend Mel for a beautiful space! Would book here again in the future!

C'était notre deuxième séjour chez Mel et si nous revenons dans la région, nous voudrons absolument y séjourner à nouveau. Mel est réactif et possède une grande connaissance de la région en général. L'ajout d'une douche était une excellente idée et un équipement très apprécié lors de quelques occasions particulièrement poussiéreuses ! La propriété ne pourrait pas être mieux située pour la vue et l'intimité, tout en étant proche de l'autoroute, des magasins, des stations-service, des restaurants, etc. Allez chez Mel... vous ne le regretterez pas ! This was our second trip to Mel's and if we find ourselves in the area again we'll definitely want to stay there. Mel is responsive and has a wealth of knowledge about the area in general. The addition of a shower was a nice touch and a welcome amenity on a couple of particularly dusty occasions! The property couldn't be situated in a better location for views and privacy, despite being close to the highway, stores, gas, restaurants, etc. Go to Mel's place....you won't regret it!

Le camp meublé a tout ce dont vous avez besoin ! Il y a aussi des salles de bains et des douches qui sont incroyables. À seulement 10 minutes de l'entrée ouest de BBNP et à 15 minutes de Terlingua où vous pouvez manger quelque chose après une randonnée ! Je recommande vivement ! The furnished camp has everything you need! There's also bathrooms and showers which are amazing. Only 10mins to the west entrance of BBNP and 15 mins from Terlingua where you can get some food after a day hike! Highly recommend!

L'endroit de Mel offrait des vues spectaculaires. J'ouvrais simplement la tente et je pouvais voir Vénus apparaître juste au-dessus de la chaîne de montagnes, suivie peu après par le lever du soleil. L'emplacement était idéalement situé à Study Butte, donc tout était facile et rapidement accessible. Mel a toujours été réactive, gentille et chaleureuse lors de nos échanges, et elle connaissait bien le parc ainsi que les lieux d'intérêt. Je recommanderais sans hésiter son logement et j'ai hâte d'y revenir à l'avenir. Mel’s place had spectacular views I would just open up the tent and watch Venus peak right over the top of the Mountain range shortly followed by the sun rise. The space was conveniently located in Study Butte so everything was easy and quickly accessible Mel was responsive, kind and friendly in all our interactions and was knowledgeable of the park and areas of interest. I would definitely recommend her space and look forward to returning in the future

Je recommande vivement les emplacements de camping/tente de Mel. L'endroit est magnifique et l'accès aux magasins, à l'essence et à la nourriture est facile. C'est à seulement quelques minutes du parc national de Big Bend. Mel était tellement gentille et attentionnée. Elle m'a donné l'impression de la connaître depuis des années. The area is wonderful and easy access to store, gas and food. It’s only minutes from Big Bend National Park. Mel was so sweet and caring. She made me feel as if I’d known her for years.
