The pin on the map is close to the campground. You will use the directions in your reservation sent after you book to get to the exact location. The road is not in navigation apps and GPS is not accurate. The Cottonwood store has a good selection of groceries, camping supplies and water fill station just a couple miles south on 118 towards the park. There's 15 acres to explore, but do not take any plants or rocks! The back property line is behind the cabin and my pole barn to the west. Do not go on the neighbors property. Please see the map in the photos so you know where the boundaries are. I'd hate for you to get a visit from the sheriff. Cottonwood grocery store here sells firewood, but bring it if you can as it will cost less. Important!! *If you're bringing a tent for extra guests, secure tents with good stakes, and gear from wind and weather. You can not rely on the forecast to predict the high winds or storms that can come up in the desert unexpectedly We expect campers to respect the property and leave it as they found it. Please practice Leave No Trace, Tread Lightly, and respect our dark skies as well by using minimal lighting at your camp, so all guests on the property have optimal stargazing. The desert is pristine, please do your part to keep it that way. We provide a special and beautiful place for campers to stay who appreciate the quiet, beauty of the desert and stars!! I appreciate you and thank you in advance for your respect and cooperation. *You must put out your campfire before leaving or going to bed. This is best done with a shovel or bucket full of dirt, but water works fine. No campfires in windy conditions over 10 mph. Use common sense. Sparks can fly a long way. Keep an eye on the local forecast and realize that rain to the north can cause the dry creeks on my property to flash flood and you may not be able to leave till it recedes, which is usually pretty quick, but no promises. This is the desert so it doesn't rain much or often. The rainy season is during the summer months when not many people are camping anyway, but rain CAN happen at unexpected times here. ALWAYS stay aware of the weather just in case.

The view of the Chisos mountains from camp is about the best around. Front and center is Emory Peak, the highest point in the national park at 7860 ft. To the left of that is Casa Grande and to the right is the South Rim and Lost Mine trail.

Je comprends que certains puissent avoir du mal à trouver l'emplacement dans le noir, mais les instructions sont très détaillées, alors assurez-vous simplement de bien les suivre. Exactly what it looks like and it’s perfect. Could see how some have trouble finding location in the dark but the directions are very detailed so just make sure to follow them.

Magnifique région et suffisamment proche des magasins pour s'y rendre en voiture si besoin. Mélanie a été incroyable, très communicative et serviable tout au long du séjour ! Elle nous a sauvé la mise en venant rapidement recoudre la porte de la tente lorsque la fermeture éclair a lâché pendant l'alerte au vent. Je n'aurais pas pu rêver d'un meilleur endroit, d'une meilleure hôte et d'une expérience aussi exceptionnelle. Je recommanderais ce lieu à tout le monde ! Beautiful area and close enough to stores to drive to should you need anything. Melanie was incredible as she was extremely communicative and helpful the entire time! She saved the day by quickly coming by to sew up the tent door when the zipper gave out during the wind advisory. Could not have asked for a better place, host, and phenomenal experience. Would recommend to stay here to anyone!

La tente de Melanie était parfaite pour ma courte visite à BBNP pour une journée de randonnée. C'était vraiment agréable d'arriver sur un site et une tente déjà installés et prêts à l'emploi. Le lit était confortable et la tente propre. Le meilleur, c'était de pouvoir admirer toutes les étoiles chaque nuit. Je reviendrai ici sans hésiter. Melanie’s tent was perfect for my quick visit to BBNP to do a day of hiking. It was so nice to arrive to a tent and site that was already set up and ready to go. The bed was comfortable and the tent was clean. Best part was looking out and seeing all the stars each night. Will definitely stay here again.

Notre séjour chez Mel a été excellent. Elle a été très réactive et a répondu à toutes nos questions. La salle de bain et la douche étaient vraiment au top pour un camping. Tout était relativement propre et bien aménagé pour une utilisation facile. Les indications étaient claires et le camping facile à trouver. L’emplacement est très pratique, assez proche des restaurants à proximité, mais suffisamment éloigné du sentier pour se sentir vraiment isolé. Les vues étaient incroyables et nous avons particulièrement apprécié le fauteuil hamac existant pour observer les étoiles la nuit. Avoir un véhicule à quatre roues motrices n’est probablement pas indispensable, mais cela a clairement aidé à monter/descendre une petite colline raide pour accéder au camping. Nous avons vu plusieurs véhicules à deux roues motrices qui sont arrivés sans problème, mais un autre campeur a mentionné que c’était un peu délicat mais faisable. En résumé, c’est une excellente option pour camper lors d’un voyage à Big Bend si vous préférez ne pas rester dans le parc. Notre trajet jusqu’au départ du sentier de Chisos Basin a duré environ une heure et tout était facilement accessible depuis chez Mel. Nous reviendrons sans aucun doute ! Our stay at Mel’s place was great. She was very responsive and answered any questions we had. The bathroom and shower situation was top-notch as far as campgrounds go. Everything relatively clean and set up for easy use. Directions were clear and the campsite was easy to find. Very convenient location and close enough to restaurants nearby, but far enough off trail to feel very secluded. The views were amazing and we especially enjoyed the existing hammock chair for stargazing at night. Having a 4 wheel drive vehicle is probably not necessarily, but definitely helped get up / down 1 small steep hill to enter the campsite. We saw several 2wd vehicles that made it in fine, but another camper mentioned it was a bit tricky but doable. All in all a great option to camp for a trip to Big Bend if you prefer not to stay in the park. Our drive to chisos basin trailhead was about an hour and everything was easily accessible from Mel’s. We will definitely be back!

Ce fut une excellente expérience pour moi. C'est exactement ce que je recherchais : un endroit isolé, simple, propre, avec une vue spectaculaire. Pas de bruits, pas de lumières, pas de gens. Juste un ciel inoubliable, rempli d'étoiles incroyables qu'on ne peut pas voir en ville, et d'autres choses que je n'ai pas encore réussi à identifier :) . Assurez-vous de bien lire la description de l'endroit pour éviter les surprises. C'est ce dont j'avais besoin, mais cela ne conviendra peut-être pas à tout le monde. Mélanie a été formidable, merci ! C'est vraiment très apprécié ! It was a great experience for me. This is what I was looking for, a remote location, simple, clean with an spectacular view. No noises, no lights, no people. Only the unforgettable sky, full of amazing starts that you can't see in the city and other stuff that I still can't figure out what it was :) . Make sure you read the description of the place so you don't have surprises. This is what I needed, but it may not be a good fit for everyone. Melanie was great, thank you! it is truly appreciated!.

Ce fut un séjour magnifique. Notre espace était très privé, tout en étant sûr. Notre emplacement de camping était équipé de plus de choses que ce à quoi nous nous attendions (réchaud Coleman, lanterne, gel désinfectant, etc.). Melanie a été très réactive et nous a donné de bonnes recommandations. Nous aimerions beaucoup revenir ! It was such a beautiful stay. Our space felt very private, yet safe. Our campsite came with more things than we were expecting (Coleman stove, lantern, hand sanitizer, etc.). Melanie was super responsive and gave us good recommendations for things. We would love to come back!
